Wrinkles Prevention
Causes
Wrinkles and fine lines are all too common problems affecting dry skin sufferers. Dry skin can become dull and cracked more readily than oily skin due to many problems:
-The most common culprit is sunlight. It is imperative that dry skin sufferers stay out of the sun or wear sunscreen everyday. Special Note--we all need sunlight for the production of Vitamin D. Limit sun exposure to 20 minutes a day without sunscreen. -Smoking. Add sunlight to this one and you have the most horrible combination for your skin. Nutrients are depleted by smoking so all those great vitamins you take for your skin do not reach the surface. And the nicotine constricts the blood vessels and interferes with the blood and oxygen flow to the skin surface. -Air Pollution. See above. How can your skin thrive if you can't breathe? -Hormonal Changes. Such as menopause and pregnancy. -Gravity. -Repetitive facial expressions.
If you can make only two changes I would recommend the top two. I can't thank God enough for 1 great embarrassment in my life. I was 17. I piled into a car load of other girls. We had 1 cigarette between about 6 of us. Everyone else took a drag. They seemed to do just fine. I took a drag and about barfed up a lung. I thought I would never stop coughing. I thought they would never stop laughing. Embarrassing and life saving at the same time. I still do not smoke to this day. You may not be able to do much about the later 4 listed problems. And I hear it is horrible to try to quit smoking. This really needs to be done for your all over health. Do what ever you must!
Why do wrinkles start?
Wrinkles are biologically caused when the epidermis (outer layer) becomes thin and less sticky causing it to dry out. Cell division slows down so that the repairing of our skin becomes less effective. Next, in the dermis (2nd layer) we begin to have a thinning and the collagen is decreased also. When the elastin fibers decline our skin has decreased elasticity. The rebound of the stretched skin become less and our skin forms lines and creases.
Prevention and Lessening of Wrinkles
-Water, water, water. This is a must since one of the rolls of our skin is to excrete toxins. The expulsion of toxins through our skin causes dullness, dryness, blemishes, and rashes. Drink water so that the toxins can be diluted and eliminated by other means. -Eat salmon for the omega-3 fatty acids -Eat Kale for Vitamin A, iron -Eat blueberries for antioxidants -Eat tomatoes for lycopene -Eat red peppers for vitamin A and E -Eat Beets and Carrots -Wheat germ, spinach, sunflowers seeds all high in vitamin E -Tuna, garlic, onion, broccoli all contain selenium Now look at all the good things you can eat for great skin that is smooth and unwrinkled. Try to get all of these items in your diet each week. I dare you! Make sure to take your nutritional supplements daily and check your vitamin C amount. Experts recommend that you take 300 to 500 milligrams daily for wrinkles.
Sunscreens
As noted above sunlight and more specifically UVA and UVB ray overexposure is the biggest culprit in causing wrinkles and fine lines. It is recommended that a sunscreen with at least a SPF of 15 or higher, that protects against UVA and UVB rays, that contains zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or avobezone for proper prevention of wrinkles. Apply sunscreen liberally to all exposed areas including ears, hands, and feet. Apply it every 2 to 4 hours.
Wrinkle Cream
Retin A creams, Alpha Hydroxy acids (fruit and milk sugars) are the most popular types of cosmetic fixes recommended. They promote new cell growth in the outer layer of skin. Look for alpha hydroxyl acids under the names of glycolic and lactic acids. One of the best skin creams I have found is a product called
Xtend-Life Skincare.
it is so pure you could eat it. But I highly recommend that you apply it to your face. Try it out. Topical vitamin C creams prevent free radical skin damage. Here's how free radicals work--they are unstable molecules in your body that steal electrons from healthy molecules in your body to balance themselves. If left unchecked they can cause significant tissue damage and cause wrinkling. You can not "eat" enough vitamin C to prevent wrinkles so use a Vitamin C cream along with sunscreen before going out into the sun.
Last Note
I recommend a more natural approach to aging than most people might. I hope you share my views. I do not recommend botox, collagen injections, or surgery just to look younger. I do recommend surgery for deformities and medical problems. I think we can look great whatever our age and should do what we can to live healthy lifestyles. If you need more information on cosmetic surgery please feel free to search the web.
