The top 10 Illegal Drugs
Everyone is not using illegal drugs. The ones who are are probably using the following: tobacco alcohol marijuana inhalants prescription drugs used illegally cocaine (crack) methamphetamine steroids ecstasy (MDMA) DXM-from cough and cold medication GHB Heroin Okay, so that's 12 instead of 10. Big Deal, and I do mean big deal. Illegal drug use is serious and definitely not a game. Not only do you run the risk of ending up in prison/jail but you could lose your life. Just recently the man who lived across the street lost his life when he decided to drive home drunk. He never made it. Now his son has to grow up without a Dad who I know really cared for him.
So,you can establish yourself temporarily as a cool person to your peer group if you do illegal drugs and
drink alcohol.
Then people will begin to avoid you as you get in more and more trouble. There is a reason why the adults are telling you NOT to do this. They are trying to back you up for the peer pressure that they know you are experiencing--to be there for you. They love you and want what is best for you. They have been there and done that. It is a dead end street. And some of you do not have the nice cozy family to back you up--you will need extra courage to say no!
The Effects of Illegal Drugs on Your Skin
When you are on illegal drugs your normal bodily functions are disrupted. This disruption causes nutritional deficiencies. The cells lining the stomach and small intestine are damaged through repeated drug abuse. The nutrients that are necessary for good health and great skin will be unable to get into the blood stream. This can also set up a "chain reaction" of nutritional deficiencies because the deficiencies themselves lead to more absorption challenges. These nutrients are imperative for our proper bodily functions.Substance abuse, poor health, and poor nutrition are often seen together. And the skin will "tell" on a person just because the skin is a reflection of what is going on inside the body. A lot of people in rehab have malnutrition problems. The organ damage caused by illegal drugs can be devastating--from permanent brain damage, to organ failure, and even death. A person is putting their very life on the line for a high that can never be sustained. The skin takes a beating because when the body is overloaded with toxic substances and can not filter them out through the liver and kidneys it begins to try to filter toxins out of the body through the skin. This is why so many drug addicts have dry, cracked, bleeding skin and sores all over their bodies. They are poisoning themselves. The skin is our first line of defense against germs, bacteria, and harmful substances. Illegal drug users are deliberately putting harmful toxins inside their bodies where they do NOT belong.
Ways to Say No
1. No. 2. No, thank you. 3. I'm good. 4. I'm not interested. 5. I can't do that with my current health issues. 6. I have other things to do. 7. I don't want to. 8. My body is sacred. 9. Want to set some goals for yourself like I have? 10.No, I don't consider that fun. Practice these daily so you will be prepared. The best bet for staying in control of your life is a plan. Plan for the peer pressure and set goals for your future. You don't need to go along with what others are doing. Be yourself instead.
A True Story
I grew up in the 1960's with a very, very strict mother. You behaved because you could lose your life if you didn't. My children have ask me about the "wild hippie days" of the sixties. I remind them that I was with their grandmother. "Oh, Yeah." End of discussion. There was no Woodstock for me.Move forward to the '90's. I'm going with a group of ladies to a Bible Study at the local county jail where we meet with some of the jail's clients. They are telling me about an old lady that has recently arrived and that they will try to get her to come next week. Well next week rolls around and there she is. I immediately recognized her even in her squalid state. There was no trace of her former beauty. She was so popular in school. A cheerleader. She had lost custody of her child long ago because of her illegal drug abuse. Her family would now have nothing to do with her after repeated efforts to get her help. Her skin was like badly wrinkled leather. So dried up. So sickly looking. Malnourished. She had started down this road and thought, "Not me, I'll never be addicted to drugs". Now here she was in front of me. You know they never called me an old lady. They had called her an old lady, but she was younger than me. They couldn't believe that we had been in school together. So in the long run it really pays to stay healthy and avoid illegal drug use. You may have to deal with a lot of pressure now but you will be glad you said, "No Way!"
