Dry Skin with Acne
Could there be anything more frustrating than dry skin with acne? Doesn't that defy logic? Actually, combination skin is probably the most "normal" skin type.
Do not despair. You, my friend, will have to take extra measures because some of the products that are on the market today will have to be tested on you--that's right there are so many differences in combination skin (and the products) that it is mind boggling. You are the guinea pig. And let's face it (pardon the pun) not one single product works for everyone. you will need to find acne medicine that doesn't dry out skin, as well as the best moisturizer for dry acne prone skin. The first thing to do is to look for a product line that: --will not clog pores. --does not use
toxic chemicals.
--gives you sun protection. --hydrates. --kills bacteria. --and works for your
combo skin!
It might help you to keep in mind the basic steps that you will need to do for your combo skin:
--EXFOLIATE: This will remove excess skin oils and unplugs oil glands, and dead skin cells. This must be a gentle exfoliation process so as to not irritate your skin. Do as often as necessary. Gentle is the key word! --TREATMENT: Ask yourself, "Do I need oil absorbing agents, a product for discoloration, a product for rejuvenating"? The main thing here is to locate the number one problem you wish to control first. This will help you to choose a product specifically for that problem. If it is acne, concentrate your search on finding the best product for that problem. Sometimes a product can be found that addresses all problems at once like
Xtend Life Skin Care.
--HYDRATION: Every one needs hydration especially those with combination skin. The acne products dry out your skin, using a moisturizer with antibacterial properties is going to be your best bet. Use all over or just in the driest areas. You may even find a product that spans both treatment and hydration. Right On! --PROTECTION: Always, always, always wear sunscreen. Make sure to choose a product for oily skin. Wear a hat. Stay in the shade. Be active in defending yourself against wrinkles and skin cancer. (You will need 20 minutes of unprotected sunshine each day for the production of Vitamin D and some experts use photo-therapy for many dry skin conditions.) --Also, don't forget your back. If you have back acne and dry skin you will need to find a solution for that as well.
